The woolen moquette industry Fintexport is closing, leaving more than 120 employees jobless. The company's management announced on Wednesday 1 May 2013 that it filed for bankruptcy, while its staff have been unpaid since December 2011.

In June 2012, the company, which is owned by four families (Vranopoulos, Rodopoulos, Makris and Voglis), suspended production, leading its unpaid employees to engage in retention of work and protests. The staff occupied the factory on 16 November 2012.

On 14 March 2013, the staff held an loud protest at the Ministry of Labour and secured from the Ministry's leadership a commitment to be provided with special economic support.

Fintexport is one of the oldest companies to be listed in the Athens Stock Market. It was established 40 years ago and has known glorious days in the past, when it would export more than 70% of its products.
